About this place
When you crave everyday comfort, little hits the spot like the mellow, unpretentious flavors of a neighborhood Chinese diner. Tucked into the residential streets of Matsugaya in Taito Ward, Meika is an easygoing destination with a reassuring menu of classic noodles and rice dishes.
The highlight here is pairing a bowl of ramen with a mini donburi. The ramen stock has an understated, gentle salinity that grows more comforting with every bite. It pairs cleanly with an array of mini rice bowls, from generously topped chukadon and fragrant twice-cooked pork (hoikoro) to fluffy, well-separated fried rice. Sets featuring mabo tofu or mabo eggplant bowls are also on offer, answering cravings for bolder, saucy toppings spooned over steamed rice.
The standalone noodle lineup is just as varied, including tanmen buoyed by the savory umami of dried stock, kantonmen, stir-fried garlic chive ramen, and sauce yakisoba.
In addition to ground-floor table seating on the 1F, the shop has 2F seating, offering an immaculate and calm dining environment. Service runs in two shifts for lunch and dinner, and payment is accepted in cash only.
